Shopping
in Wimbledon
Shopping in
Wimbledon can be a real pleasure. The old Wimbledon town hall was
converted in to a wonderful shopping centre, named Centre Court with
its obvious connection to the local tennis. It boasts 2 floors of shops
that sell just about everything and a food court on the third level.
Centre Court shopping is located adjacent to the main line and
underground stations.
As you leave
Centre
Court by the front entrance you enter The Broadway, where there are
even more shops than there are inside the shopping centre. Also
situated on The Broadway is the Odeon cinema with its new Imax 3D
auditorium and the Wimbledon Theatre. There is also plenty of coffee
shops and take away food outlets on The Broadway.
Wimbledon
village is
also a must for shoppers with lots of designer shops, small independent
outlets and more restaurants and coffee shops. Although Wimbledon
Village is only about half a mile from The Broadway there is a steep
uphill walk between the two shopping areas. There are busses that can
take you there but the easiest way is by a 3 minute taxi ride from
outside the station or the shopping centre.
Throughout the
shopping areas there is a wide selection of pubs that
also offer meals and snacks that you can enjoy with real ale or coffee.
