Getting
to Wimbledon
Wimbledon
is a
suburb in south west London,
located within the London Borough of Merton and is located
approximately 7 miles (11 km) from central London and only 14
miles (22 km) from London's Heathrow airport. Wimbledon boasts
excellent
transport links buy train and bus to and from central London as well as
other local towns including Kingston upon Thames, Croydon, Wandsworth
and Sutton. Wimbledon also has a modern tram system with links to
Croydon and beyond.
Wimbledon
station
is served by overground and underground rail links as well as the
Croydon tram link.
The
underground
is served by the district line with easy access to and from central
London, Kensington and Earls Court. South Wimbledon station, about a
mile from Wimbledon station, is on the northern line.
South West
trains
have up to 16 trains per hour into Waterloo station as well as train
services to Hampton Court, Epsom, Guildford and much more.
The Croydon
tram
link offers a regular service between Wimbledon and Croydon.
Wimbledon
is very
well served by the famous London Taxi. The main rank is at the station
and is served 24 hours a day. There a number of smaller ranks outside
Centre Court shopping and in Wimbledon Village.
Taxi
journeys to
and from Wimbledon vary according to the time of day but as a rough
guide central London takes about 45 minute and Heathrow airport about
an hour.
There are
also
plenty of buses that serve the Wimbledon area.
